‘This Human Joy’ is a hopeful song about finding peace in the beauty of small and simple things, when often it’s easy to slip into feeling frustrated or irritated by the world, routine and to stop taking chances and risks. It’s about accepting the fact that we can’t always know where we’re going or what will happen to us and embracing those mysteries.

Featuring guest harpist Emily Hoile, and produced by Mick Ross and James Mottershead, the track was premièred by The Line of Best Fit who declared Ajimal to be “setting a new benchmark for sensitive pop in 2013″.

The stunning video, directed and photographed by Ian West for Jukebox Films was debuted at Pigeons & Planes and shows the microscopic changes that we often miss in the everyday.

The single will soon be followed with concept mini-album ‘Childhood’ which involves a cast of 50 musicians to explore the the ideas of youth, potential and play. Fran takes his classical music upbringing and experiences to create rich orchestral arrangements, bouncing ideas with producer Mick Ross to create a beautiful, flowing set of songs.

Last Minute Secret Newcastle Gig

To celebrate the release of ‘This Human Joy’, Ajimal will play a very special gig on Tuesday 26th March in Newcastle.

Inspired by recent gigs in London, Paris and Melbourne for Sofar Sounds, Ajimal plays a secret venue in Newcastle with special guests Trev Gibb and Faith Elliot. The free entry gig is available to a small number of people who registered for passcode entry (see below).

In late 2012, Ajimal returned with a stunning live version of brand new track ‘I’ve Known Your Heart‘, filmed for Blank Sessions.

Backed by b-side ‘Amputated Years’, ‘Footnote to Love [Part One]‘ was recorded with producer Mick Ross (Frankie & the Heartstrings, Let’s Buy Happiness) and a number of close friends and respected musicians.

The limited edition CD single has now sold out but the Digital Single is now available at Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify and many other digital outlets.
